Greetings,

This scenario is the reason to own a gun. ...and know well how to use it! I'm going to take it a step further. Any man that lets a burglar, or other intruder, get within reaching distance of his family, especially his wife, is no man!

Oh, and why must it be the man? Eph. 5:23, 25 gives the answer. The husband is the head of the wife. He is responsible to God for her, and his family. Also, the man is to give himself up for her, and his family.

Discalimer, I am not talking about value or equality in the marraige. Scripture is quite clear that women are not lesser than men, but equal in the sight of God. However, there is a God-ordained order of things, especially in marrage and family.

God Bless!

Dear sir, you obviously don't get it.

Proverbs 25:2 states...and the glory of Kings is to search a matter out."

Take your thoughts about Piper and his influence on your Christian upbringing and search out why Piper would say such.

Why cant they both go down together and assess the situation? And then bring her black belt skills to bear when appropriate? Who the heck would be thinking about gender roles in this situation anyway - 2 people becoming 1 flesh means they both deal with the situation together, right?

I think this is going too far as to become legalistic.

Wow... I could totally hear Dr. Thorsell's voice saying that. Inflections and all. Definitely my favourite professor from TMC.

Wow, I remember reading this or hearing it a long while back. I'm a Piper fan in a lot of ways, he was foundational in my Christian upbringing.
But really? What is un-manly about letting your wife use her abilities (in this situation physical skill), rather then falling into ridiculous gender roles?
